41. “A man came up to me on the street and said I used to be messed up out of my mind on drugs but now I’m messed up out of my mind on Jeeesus Chriiist.”

GEORGE CARLIN DID NOT say this.

“A man came up to me on the street and said I used to be messed up out of my mind on drugs but now I’m messed up out of my mind on Jeeesus Chriiist.”

This quote is one of the few unsourced quotes on a widely-circulated internet list of “George Carlin on Religion”. The quote is really a variation of a line from a 1972 Cheech and Chong album. The track is titled “Streets of New York or Los Angeles or San Francisco Or…”. The actual quote is “You know before, I was all messed up on drugs. But since I found the Lord, now I’m all messed up on the Lord.” And as usual, it doesn’t show up on any of Carlin’s released materials, let alone the few released prior to 1972.
